Bearing Pad Replacement
Caltrans (California Dept. of Transportation)

Replacement of failed elastomeric bearing pads on a connector bridge at the Interstate 15/State Route 60 separation near Ontario.

Bearing pads were replaced in the hinge (seat) of the box girder bridge. Supported portion of span had settled approximately 1.5 inches.
Filling access holes with new concrete
Interior bearing pads were replaced by cutting openings in the soffit to gain access to the box girder cells. After replacement, the openings were covered with galvanized steel access plates which can be removed for future inspection.
Falsework setup
The bridge was raised 2 inches using steel falsework, 100-ton hydraulic jacks, and 12x12 timbers for the foundation.

The bridge was in continuous use during construction.
