Job Title: Field Team Program Coordinator (State Title: Volunteer Services Coordinator)

Job Description: The Maine Conservation Corps (MCC) is seeking to fill the full-time position of Volunteer Services Coordinator (Field Team Program Coordinator) in Augusta. This position will focus on statewide natural resource related projects in partnership with other public and nonprofit organizations. 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: MCC seeks an experienced conservation and management professional to oversee the MCC Field Team. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with additional MCC staff to manage a statewide AmeriCorps program. Field Team Coordinator duties include identifying and developing 180 weeks of recreational trail projects in partnership with public and nonprofit groups. The Coordinator also develops, cultivates and maintains partnerships with natural resource managing agencies, including federal, state, municipal and nonprofit entities. The coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of approximately 70 AmeriCorps members annually. Oversight of the MCC Field Team includes coordination of operational logistics, such as acquisition and maintenance of transportation, housing, equipment, uniforms, supplies, food, etc.; development of rules and standards; tracking, monitoring, and analyzing programmatic outcomes; understanding and implementing federal and state policies; drafting and tracking cooperative agreements with partners; and developing and executing a variety of marketing and promotional strategies. Statewide travel is required.

The position includes a high level of responsibility within the MCC program, and depends upon the capability of working independently.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A four (4) year combination of education and/or experience in organizing, supervising, and/or coordinating a volunteer program.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with experience in conservation, youth corps management, AmeriCorps, environmental stewardship activities, specifically trail construction and maintenance, and a valid driver’s license.
