Job Title: Trail Crew Leader

Job Description: Primary Responsibilities:
-Supervise crew members in remote, outdoor locations
-Provide technical oversight of field work ensuring quality project outcomes in projects such as:
-Constructing structures (i.e. bridges, retaining walls, stairs, turnpike, etc.)
-Drainage improvements (i.e. water bars, switchbacks, culverts, etc.)
-Brushing and clearing trails
-Operate, maintain, and oversee use of mechanized equipment such as:
-Power tools
-Chainsaws
-Excavation equipment
-Brushers
-Document any incidents according to Trail Mix guidelines
-Promote crew development with members through training, education and demonstration
-Mitigate hazards and risks to ensure safe working conditions
-Creatively solving problems independently in a remote setting
-Under direction of Field Coordinator, execute daily crew operations (equipment, vehicle logistics)
-Maintain positive relationship and communication with agency points of contact as assigned
-Represent Trail Mix in a positive and professional manner
-Cultivate a positive team attitude


Qualifications:
-Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
-Must have ability to legally work in the US
-Must be able to attend overnight work trips, up to 8 days
-Current Basic First Aid & CPR certifications (WFA/WFR preferred)
-Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 10 hours per day, exposed to the elements and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more
-Ability to work in an outdoor environment including hiking and backpacking at least 6 miles daily in a variety of terrain
-Valid driver’s license, CDL preferred
-Ability to pass a criminal background check
-Demonstrated experience working in an outdoor setting
-Demonstrated skills in trail maintenance and building
-Strong interpersonal skills to ensure a fun, safe and quality volunteer experience
-Cultural competency experience and demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse races, ages, genders, abilities and economic backgrounds
-Ability to work independently and contribute to a team effort
-Ability to remain calm and manage emergency situations
-Ability to work weekends and 10‐hour days

Compensation
-Starting @ $18/hr DOE
