Trail Ace Construction was established in 1996 as a sole proprietor business. The company is named after wilderness trail building implements developed to reduce labor costs on trail construction. The company incorporated in February, 1997 under the laws of the State of Idaho, and the original five-member crew became officers, directors, and shareholders.

Together the crew has compiled 27 work seasons of on-the-ground trailbuilding experience throughout Idaho and Montana.

We specialize in erosion and drainage items, turnpike, puncheon bridges, wilderness construction and reconstruction, and wilderness and non-wilderness clearing.

Our work ethics, quality and promptness may be best explained by some of the references listed below, or give me a call at the number listed. I’m always happy to talk trails.

Trail Ace at work
Trail Ace profile Trail Scoop profile
Trail Ace comes with three ripper teeth and dirt spade, with replaceable rock points; two depth shoes; reversible plow and blade. Teeth and depth shoes fit in any one of 21 pockets in an 18x36 inch frame. Total wt. 100 lbs.
Trail Scoop transports soil for fill, rock for stone structures, rock drill, and trail equipment. It also smooths, levels, and compacts trail tread. Easy transport saves effort, time and energy.
Wilderness Worksavers

The Trail Ace, shown in photo, is a horse-drawn ground ripper that adjusts to control the depth and direction of the teeth. The plow blade angles from left to right, and its design keeps it hugging the ground.

The Trail Scoop, far left in photo, carries about 1/6 cu. yd. It can be used as a material transport and, with its flared cutting edge with teeth, it self-loads from bank or tread surface and self-levels after dump.

The Ace and Scoop work together to build drainage dips. When the Scoop is used behind the Ace, the scoop excavates and mounds material with a quick scoop-and-dump procedure.
