Building Trails Since 1968

Trio Construction, Inc. was founded in 1968 as a partnership to contract various projects with the U.S. Forest Service. In the beginning the partners contracted tree thinning and land clearing. The first trail contract was in 1969, and from that time on the company has completed over 100 contracts with the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service.

In 1986, Trio Construction incorporated in the state of Idaho. Since then the company has directed its activities toward trail construction and related work such as trail maintenance, trail equipment rental (with or without an operator), trail supervision (working with volunteers), cost-plus projects, trail design and location, building and rebuilding trail structures (bridges, waterbars, etc.) and subcontracting — in particular, working with explosives.

Morrison Trailblazer Trio Construction uses the most modern equipment in the construction of trails, including the Morrison Trailblazer (left), Pionjar rock drills, FB-60 rock breaker, Honda Power Carriers and several different types of specialized hand tools.

Trio Construction has built trails as short as 500 feet and as long as 17 miles. Company President Marvin Hegge will inspect your site and submit free estimates for all types of trail work.

We can design a project to fit the appearance of the terrain. If the trail is to be built in a marshy area we can build a turnpike to provide a safe and dry trail tread. As licensed blasters we can construct the trail through rocky areas. A well-designed trail will last for decades and will increase the value of the property.

We believe well-constructed trails not only improve the physical and emotional experience for people, but also contribute to enhancing the land by reducing erosion. Contracted trails improve public value by reducing the initial cost of construction; and strong professional standards invariably result in lowering long-term maintenance costs. Quality aids renewability and ultimately enhances public appreciation and care.

This letter is in response from Marvin Hegge, President, Trio Construction, Inc.

I have known, and been associated with, Marvin Hegge and Trio Construction in my position as a Contracting Officer for the U.S. Forest Service for over fifteen years.

During that time, Trio Construction has performed innumerable construction jobs on both the Wenatchee and Okanagon as well as other National Forests in the Pacific Northwest Region of the U.S. Forest Service.

On the projects I have been directly involved with, their performance has been above reproach, with high quality work and a willingness to resolve any administrative problems that may arise.

They have demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and enjoy a good reputation throughout the region.

It is always a pleasure to hear when they are the successful offerer on one of our trail construction projects.

Gentlemen:

This letter is written in reference to Trio Construction, Inc. performance on U.S.D.A. Forest Service Trail Construction contracts.

I have personally been involved with administration of Trail Construction contract work performed by Trio since 1972. I have served in both the Contracting Officer (C.O.) and Contracting Officer Representative (C.O.R.) capacity with Trio on several contracts at various times during this past 18 year period.

Trio has completed all contracts which they have been awarded in a most satisfactory manner. Their work has always been completed in a professional manner with a minimum of administrative difficulties. The Company has repeatedly demonstrated the audacity and expertise to complete the most difficult of Trail Construction projects.

Marvin Hegge has represented Trio for a number of years in which I have experienced a consistently high ethical approach to all contractual matters.

I look forward to the prospect of having Trio Construction for future Government contracts.

Contracting Officer's Representative

Subject: Letter of Reference

Mr. Marvin Hegge of Trio Construction has requested that I provide you with information relative to performance, professionalism, etc., in our contracts with Trio Construction.

Trio has sucessfully completed four trail construction contracts that I have signed as Contracting Officer for the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. All completed projects were finished within specified or amended contract time and workmanship was excellent. Trio currently has a project under construction, and that project has gone very smoothly to this point. Mr. Hegge and his representatives have been very professional in their contacts with Government employees. I believe Trio Construction has the knowledge, equipment, and other resources to successfully complete any trail construction project this forest could offer.

EUGENE R. BROOKS
Contracting Officer
