Job Title: Missouri Trails Project Coordinator

Job Description: MISSOURI TRAILS PROJECT COORDINATOR
Type: Full Time Temporary (Grant Funded)
Time: Approximately 3 years, beginning in the fall of 2017.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience ranging from $33,000-$40,000 plus attractive fringe package. 
Position Description:
The individual (hereafter, “the Coordinator,” ) will serve as the coordinator of a 3-year grant (approximately) through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources from the Federal Government’s Recreational Trails Grant Program. Administered by the Missouri Park and Recreation Association (hereafter, MPRA), the Coordinator will be employed by MPRA. MPRA will hire, supervise and handle all matters of employment and compensation. Using the current website, www.visitmissouritrails.com, the Coordinator will:
1. Facilitate planning meetings and workshops to assess current version of the website. Be an enthusiastic advocate for trail values, communicating with communities on all levels, beyond the trail managers, including citizens, elected officials, and volunteers.
2. Create a plan for comprehensive outreach to entities not currently represented on www.visitmissouritrails.com. Solicit relationships, encourage the development of local resources and support systems locally to assist in future trail planning, including a plan for future launch.
3. Identify potential trail connections that would be mutually beneficial to the local, regional, state, and national systems.  
4. Compose reports of all activities during all phases of the project; share this information with all appropriate entities in order to validate the projects and encourage momentum in order to achieve the maximum results at the end of the grant.
Qualifications:
Attitude – Strong communication skills, able to adapt to diverse audiences both verbally and in writing. Positive, enthusiastic, passionate about the outdoors and trails in particular. Committed to thinking “solution” rather than “problem.”  
Initiative – Able to exercise a high degree of judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve objectives.
Flexibility – Available for travel, sometimes overnight. Able to adjust work plans according to the unpredictability that comes along with coordinating people and technology.
Skills – Excellence in planning. Knowledge of mapping, GPS, and GIS. Proficiency helpful. Computer proficiency on basic office software. Comfortable speaking persuasively to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and with diverse priorities.  
Contacts – Solid knowledge of potential grant/funding resources on the local, corporate, regional, state, and national levels.  
Grant Management – Experience in managing grant funding, especially soliciting of matching contributions, multi-year budget oversight, and reporting.
Physical Requirements: Able to walk distances while carrying tools/equipment up to 20 lbs. Tolerance of inclement weather conditions.
