Project Description: COGGS (Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores) invites proposals for the rehabilitation,
widening, and necessary water management for approximately ±4,000 feet of existing bike-optimized, machine-built singletrack. Builder will need to follow Specification 15 in the “Trail Specification Matrix”. This trail segment is vital as it will seamlessly connect with a newly constructed “Universally Accessible Trail” scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024. The primary objective of this maintenance project is to create a fully inclusive loop accessible to all mountain bike riders, including those with adaptive bikes.

The project focuses on enhancing the existing single track to accommodate a diverse range of mountain bike riders. This trail plays a crucial role as it will link with a newly constructed, universally accessible trail, promoting inclusivity within the biking community. The completion of this loop will offer a cohesive and accessible biking experience for all riders, including those utilizing adaptive bikes.
III. Scope of Work:
The selected contractor will be tasked with: Rehabilitating and widening the existing
single track. Implementing any necessary hardening measures for durability. Ensuring the trail adheres to universal accessibility standards. Coordinating with the construction timeline and efforts of the builder of the “Universally Accessible Trail” currently under contract. Incidental to the “TRAIL RE-CONSTRUCTION” unit bid item is uphill ditching necessary to divert water away and off of the trail tread. “TRAIL LIFT & TILT” in order to qualify as a billable unit differing from “TRAIL RE-CONSTRUCTION” the tread must
substantially raised at least 8” proud of the surrounding terrain so that water does not flow onto and down the trail.
