Short Description (25-30 words): The Spencer Mountain Trails Project contains the construction of 2.64 miles of trail and ancillary trail facilities to serve hikers, cyclists, and people with mobility limitations on Spencer Mountain, the third highest peak in the Charlotte region at 1,250 ft., in order to create an iconic regional destination for all to enjoy. Spencer Mountain is anticipated to be a capstone project for the Carolina Thread Trail and a new top outdoor destination for the greater Charlotte region likely drawing approximately 1,000,000 visitors a year.
