Below is a list of projects that have been submitted to the PTBA for bid. Please respond directly to the listing agency for further information or to submit your bid. The PTBA has no control or input into the contracting or solicitation of these projects. We list them strictly as a service to the trail industry.
Trail Renewal in MN
The Superior Hiking Trail Association is seeking proposals to perform much needed trail renewal on the very popular Split Rock River Loop near Silver Bay, MN. Work includes tread repair, structure construction (puncheon, boardwalk, timber steps) and some short (less than 200 feet) reroute construction.
Hiking Trail Construction & Rehabilitation in MN
The Superior Hiking Trail Association is seeking proposals to renew a very popular loop hiking trail on the Bean and Bear Lakes Loop that is about 5 miles long. The work involved will include structure construction (puncheon, boardwalk, timber steps), tread rehab, and some short (300 and 600 feet) reroutes, and one longer reroute that is about a mile. It also includes rehabilitation of a campsite with the construction of 6 new tent pads. There is abundant native stone that we would love to see put to use as durable trail features! The trail is much loved, and the maintenance is much deferred. Half of the work is to be completed during the 2024 season, and the rest during 2025.
Design-Build Singletrack Mountain Bike Flow Trail in FL
The Leon County – City of Tallahassee Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency (“Agency”), requests Statements of Qualifications ("SOQ”) from Design-Build Firms (“Consultants”) to provide design and construction services for a mountain bike trail at the Debbie Lightsey Nature Park (“Project”) in Tallahassee, Leon County.
Multi Use Trail Construction in UT (Spring Hollow Trail) - Phase 2
The project area is located approximately 12 miles north of St. George UT. The Dixie National Forest conducted an Environmental Assessment (“EA”) titled the “Spring Hollow and Grass Valley Mountain Biking Project”. This includes 43 miles of new natural surface singletrack trails to be developed for mountain biking, adaptive cycling, hiking, and trail running in the Spring Hollow Trail Project.
Accessible Trail Design and Build in MA
Williamstown Rural Lands invites proposals from qualified contractors for the construction of an accessible trail that will meet the US Access Board’s Accessibility Guidelines for Outdoor Areas (AGODA) at our Oblong Road Property in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The project will include 220’ of naturally surfaced trail, a two-vehicle parking area, a picnic area, and a viewpoint overlook.
Mountain Bike Trail Development in Ontario
2024 trail program includes an Enduro Section ~approximately 2 km of new trail. Flow/XC trail ~ 2km.
19.56 Miles of Multi-Use Trails in CA - Phase 1
Butte County Resource Conservation District (BCRCD), in collaboration with the Forest Service (FS) Almanor Ranger District, Lassen National Forest, is seeking bids from qualified Trail Contractors (Contractor) to complete the construction of Phase I of the Colby Mountain Project- 19.56 miles of a non-motorized, multi-use, trails in Jonesville, California.
New Trail Segment on Velomont Trail, VT
This section of trail is to be built as a mountain bike-optimized multi-use trail that is approximately 3-miles long depending on final trail alignment and includes approximately 400 linear feet of rock hardening.
Turnagain Pass Trail Design and Construction in AK
The Turnagain Pass Trail Design/Build Project is for the design and construction of an unbuilt approximately 5-mile segment of the Iditarod National Historic Trail (INHT) on the Chugach National Forest in Alaska.. This project will continue construction from the current northern terminus on the lower reaches of Turnagain Pass to a connection point on the Seward Highway at sea level. Design and construction should be complete by December 1, 2025 or 2026.
MTB Downhill Trail Construction in ID
The current project includes 1.76 miles of new, already flagged and designed mountain bike optimized, downhill only, advanced mountain biking trail, along with an additional alternative 500 linear foot climbing segment to replace a steep, existing stretch of trail at the lowest trailhead in the Lower Basin trail system.
MTB Trail Construction in GA
Create a locally significant, high quality mountain bike optimized trail system and that offers feature rich trail experiences that are technical and well constructed. Build a 2-mile loop intermediate, or “blue”, level bike optimized mountain bike trail with TTFs and a 1-mile expert, or "black", level bike optimized mountain bike trail with TTFs that ties into 1-mile of pre-existing trail to create a loop. A 50ft handbuilt on the expert loop by volunteers will be incorporated. Trail runners and hikers will also have access to these trails. The trail should not only provide for mountain bike optimized recreation, but also ensure natural resource protection through stabilized spoils and positive drainage. The trail shall be intended for foot and bicycle traffic only.
Accessible trail construction and trail upgrades in VT
3,000' +- Pathway Built to Accessibility Standards around the Bethel Athletic Fields and 3,000'+- surface upgrades to Carla's Meadow Trail.
Survey and Engineering of ~5-mile Paved Bike Path in NM
On behalf of Taos Pueblo, the Enchanted Circle Trails Association seeks qualified candidates to submit a proposal for the Survey and/or Engineering of a 5-mile muti-use paved pathway to be located east of NM150 between US64 and Arroyo Seco in Taos County, NM.
Alum Creek State Park Mountain Bike Trail Extension: Columbus, Ohio
The trail construction project is located between Alum Creek Reservoir and Africa Road and within the boundaries of map coordinates 40.240243, -82.962718 to the north and 40.219731, -82.956627 to the south. This project will connect two existing mountain bike trails at Alum Creek known as P1 and P2 enabling trail users to ride both trails without needing to ride on Africa Road or drive to the other trailhead.
The new trail will be constructed to meet International Mountain Bicycling Association standards for sustainable trails and Kootenay Adaptive Sports Association adaptive mountain biking trail standards.
CAMBA Trail Reroute and Rehab - Ojibwe Trail - WI
This project will include up to 3 miles of hand-built reroutes, plus drainage rehab and installation and spot rehab work. The project trail is 18" - 24" wide with a desired level of difficulty of Moderately Difficult/Blue and will include occasional rock features and optional B lines.
Region 8 Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA)
The intent of this BPA is to provide coverage within 5 categories of activities related to recreational trails within the Southern Region of the Forest Service which includes National Forest System lands in Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. These 5 categories are further described detail in the solicitation but are categorized as follows:

Mason City Bike Trails - IA
Approximately three miles of singletrack mountain bike trails of varying skill levels, trail technical features, parking lot space, trail signage, retaining wall, and wooden boardwalks.
Hanging Lake Trail Reconstruction, White River National Forest, Garfield County, Colorado
Seeking a team of experts to repair, restore, and reconstruct the Hanging Lake Trail. Work includes but is not limited to; trail construction and reconstruction, replacement of 7 existing bridges, installing a boardwalk at Spouting Rock, stabilization of the historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) shelter, stream restoration, replacement of wayfinding and interpretive signage, and construction of an improved trailhead.
LaVerkin Rim to River Trail - UT
Requesting bids for approx. 350' hiking only trail descending from the Virgin River canyon rim to canyon floor approx. 150' below in LaVerkin, Utah. Dark, basalt rock forms canyon rim and abundant fissured basalt rocks litter slopes below. Looking to use this native material to build a combination of trail tread and steps although open to other options.
