Job Title: Noble View Trails Facility Coordinator - Southern New England

Job Description: Appalachian Mountain Club is looking for a Trails Facility Coordinator at Noble View Outdoor Center who has interest in fostering community, spending time outdoors, and providing food to hungry trail workers.

This is a seasonal position with the AMC’s Southern New England Trails Program based out of Noble View Outdoor Center in Russell, Massachusetts. Four summer trail crews will be living on-site at in a shared cottage. While some crews will be working nearby during the week and staying on-site, others will be camped out elsewhere for the week and only returning on weekends.

This position will plan and coordinate detailed efforts needed for a successful base camp, in conjunction with the Trails Volunteer Program Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include grocery shopping, cooking for crews, managing the pantry, enforcing policies, and facility upkeep. This person must be willing to work weekends when necessary and have a flexible work schedule. Typical schedule will be Sunday-Thursday. With the help of this position, the facilities at Noble View will be a clean, happy, and safe place for all our seasonal workers.



What you’ll be doing:

Shop for food to keep Noble View Pantry stocked for crews
Cook dinners for crews that work on site during the week (typically groups of about 8-15)
Set out breakfast and lunch items in the morning for crews to grab before work
Oversee and organize the pantry area at Noble View
Create rotation of camp cleaning chores for crews (assign dish duty, bath house cleaning, weekly cottage chores)
Ensure trail crew staff is following facility policies
Assist with set-up of kitchen and pantry pre-season
Enforce facility-specific policies to assure safety, cleanliness, and respectable behavior
Take a leadership role in any incidents that occur on property.
Other general duties as assigned
What we are looking for:

Ability to live on-site at Noble View for the season
Strong communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to cook for groups of people, considering food allergies and restrictions (no professional cooking experience required)
Proficiency in the use of computers
Be willing and able to work a flexible and varied schedule
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to carry heavy loads (40+ lbs.)
Experience teaching or training
Experience working in a kitchen, dorm, camp, trail crew, or lodge
Availability from April 24-August 18, with some flexibility to the start date
Compensation and benefits:

Salary Range: $15.00-$17.00/ hour
Onsite housing + meals are provided
Free use of AMC Destinations: 4 nights per year
Free annual AMC membership

Matching 403(b): 4% with vesting schedule
Paid Sick Time: eligible to accrue up to 10 days
