Construction of a pedestrian suspension bridge project in Alaska

Project Title: Winner Creek Trail Bridge at Glacier Creek - Girdwood, Alaska

Website for RFP/RFQ

Short Description (25-30 words): An Invitation to Bid is currently open for the construction of a pedestrian suspension bridge project in Girdwood, Alaska. The project is located within the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) on the Iditarod National Historic Trail. The subject project replaces an existing hand tram with a new suspension bridge. The tram, first opened in 2001, provided a popular hiking connection to the Winner Creek Trail between Crow Creek Road and the Alyeska Resort and is currently out of service due to overuse and safety concerns. The United States Forest Service (USFS) manages the Winner Creek Trail, the surrounding land is owned by MOA’s Heritage Land Bank (HLB). The existing trail is located within a recorded easement granted to the USFS by HLB that permits non-motorized public access. The GSA, under the MOA, owns and manages the hand tram. Once the tram is replaced, the new bridge will be owned, maintained, and operated by the USFS.
