Job Title: Seasonal Trail Crew - Members & Leaders

Job Description: 2018 Seasonal Job Openings

Colorado Fourteeners Initiative is currently recruiting trail work and restoration professionals for our upcoming 2018 field season. We are looking for as many as 21 enthusiastic, hard-working seasonal staff leaders/members to complete these projects over the summer and early fall. Applicants must be available to work from late May/early June through late September/early October. Applications must be submitted no later than Monday, March 5th, 2018.

Fixed site Project Managers – Mount Columbia, Mount Elbert (6-8 positions): 
CFI Project Managers will ultimately be responsible for ensuring project deliverables are met and all logistics for projects in all phases are in place. Project Managers will work closely with Forest Service partners to construct and prioritize new trail work. Both the Mount Columbia and Elbert managers will oversee and work with a youth corps crew to construct newly designed summit trails and perform restoration work. Applicants must have multiple seasons of crew leadership and rock work experience. Applicants applying for Columbia Peak: rigging experience preferred

Adopt a Peak Teams:
Leader (2 positions)
Member (4 positions)
Kimberly Appelson Memorial Outdoor Leadership Internship (2 positions)
The Adopt-a-Peak crew will primarily prepare logistics for and supervise volunteer groups on 1-4 day trail maintenance projects, usually on the highly impacted peaks in the Front, Tenmile/Mosquito, and Sawatch Ranges. Additionally the crew will supplement these projects with maintenance work on 14ers statewide. Crews will work on as many as 25 Fourteeners across the state. 

Quandary Peak/Mount Evans: 
Trail Technicians (4 positions) 
The Trail Technicians on the Trail Management Team will perform a wide variety of wilderness management related tasks including but not limited to: maintaining & constructing trails, restoring damaged areas, closing and restoring social trails, enforcing forest regulations, contacting and interacting with hikers to educate and inform them about regulations, installing signs and posting updated restrictions, and leading volunteers. Applicants must have multiple seasons of trail maintenance/construction experience.

GIS Field Data Technician (1 position)
This position works within the Sustainable Trails division of the organization, and is a primarily field based position. The Data Technician will be responsible to gathering foot-by-foot detailed trail condition information on 15-20 routes across the state. This information is used to accurately compare and rate peak conditions and in the prioritization of trail maintenance and restoration efforts on the Fourteeners. See Report Cards. Applicants must have experience with Trimble GPS devices/Terrasync & Pathfinder along with ArcGIS applications.
